“Our Space” was chosen as the name for the counseling center because the words suggest that when we recognize “the space we occupy” belongs to all of us, we can strive to become well-adjusted members of society, facing our obstacles and dealing with our challenges and victories together. It is a subtle call to honor the Golden Rule to love and respect others, as we would like to be loved and respected "within the space that is shared by all of us."
Established in 2009, Our Space Family Mental Health Counseling PLLC dba as Our Space Family Counseling , is located in the Bensonhurst/Gravesend section of Brooklyn, NY, not far from Coney Island. Susan R. Grande, LMHC, NCC, is the Director and Principal Therapist. We are staffed by NYS licensed counselors (LMHC), pre-licensed professional counselors (MHC-LP), graduate program-certified intern counselors, and other counseling professionals who are practicing under supervision and/or NYS Permits. Our office on Harway Avenue is conveniently accessed by public transportation and the Belt Parkway.
Our Space Family Counseling is a mental health counseling center catering to people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths. No one is prejudged or denied access to counseling. We offer you a variety of mental health and personal counseling services: individual counseling for children, adolescents, adults and elders, marriage/couples counseling, family counseling and group counseling . Play therapy, parent-child play therapy (ages 3-8), crisis/stress management sessions and themed workshops are offered. Faith-based counseling is available. Referrals to experts in fields we do not cover are provided upon request.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Our Space Family Counseling remained open for counseling by establishing a telehealth base of operations. Using telephone calls, Facetime, Zoom and various smart phone and electronic device communications platforms, current and new clients received uninterrupted needed counseling services without having to travel to the office. We continue to provide therapy to clients affected by COVID-19: loss of family and friends, insolation aftereffects from sheltering in place and anxiety from fears associated with the virus.
Although currently we are mainly doing telehealth counseling, both on-site and telehealth services are available. Contact us for details. Telehealth licensing and permits are now in effect to counsel people residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Florida.
